BACKGROUND ON B4H
Bicycles for Humanity–MONTREAL is a grassroots initiative founded, in the spring of 2009, by three friends who found inspiration in Pat Montani's grassroots organization Bicycles for Humanity, and who share a deep desire to make a difference in the developing world. The headquarters of B4H Montreal is local bicycle shop My Bicyclette, where people have come together throughout the summer months for group bicycle rides and to drop off donation bicycles. Dave and the staff of My Bicyclette are always happy to see a newcomer to B4H arriving on the patio...so please feel free to stop by at your convenience.
Simply put – unused bicycles in your garage or basement can make an incredible difference to those in need of transportation to receive or provide healthcare, to get to work, or to attend school. Such bicycles represent a terrific opportunity to change the lives of those less fortunate.
Our objective is to send Bicycle Empowerment Centre (BECs) to empower disadvantaged communities in Africa, through channelling the help and generosity of the Montreal community. We collect bicycles, and funds for their transportation, to provide a deserving community project in Africa with the mobility they need to achieve their goals.
