DISABILITY ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROJECT (DEEP)
The Disability Economic Empowerment Project is an open initiative by people with physical and mobility disabilities , and the Ministry of Health and Social Service, the National Federation of People with Disabilities and donations of bicycles from Bicycles for Humanity and the Bicycle Empowerment Network, Namibia. This project provides the opportunity for disabled individuals in the Oneshila settlement of Oshakata, Northern Namibia, to employment. The project sells second hand bicycles, repairs bicycles and provides all kinds of related services and consultation including lay buy and bicycle rental.
DEEP has already received one container full of bicycles from Bicycles-for-Humanity and is seeking a second to expand it’s services and scope. They have been totted as being of the most ‘successful’ recipients of any container to date and are soaring with every bit of bicycle sent their way.
